The Highland Gathering 2021 has to be canceled.
Dear members and friends of the Scottish Culture Club.
Unfortunately we have to cancel our Highland Gathering for 2021 as well. This year, Corona will once again (hopefully for the last time!) put a stop to the common party mood in May and the competition at “The Peine International Pipe Band Championships”. The judges of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA) and some bands have already canceled, so the competitions cannot take place.
Even our partner PeineMarketing, with whom we are organizing this largest Highland Gathering on the European mainland – in the meantime one could also write “in the EU” – has no planning security with regard to the sales stands from abroad and from afar, as well as the feasibility at the beginning of May. In February, however, all contracts have to be signed and advertising for the festival organized, which is not possible under the current circumstances.
So we hope for 2022, when we can finally celebrate the 22nd Highland Gathering – then of course with all the trimmings. If there had been an opportunity for the Highland Gathering “light” in the city park, we would have had to celebrate completely “non-Scottish” without beer and without whisky.
Stay healthy and if the virus catches you, stand firm and have a mild course!

Helmut Horneffer (Head of the AK Highland Gathering)
